ECHO: The Emergency Care Help Organization
directly helps more than 9,000 people each year by providing programs
designed to assist those who live under the burden of poverty pull
themselves from its grip and lead fuller and more productive lives. CCKC provides support to Bethany Family
Apartments, an ECHO sponsored program that provides housing for homeless
families.

Fundraising: While
Kiwanians pride themselves as hands-on community service folks, we also
financially support a number of programs in our area. The Fundraising Committee helps CCKC
raise the resources necessary to provide for many critical needs in Leon
County.

House: Our purpose is to provide an
attractive and pleasant location, meal and program each week. We
oversee preparation of the meeting location, coordinate weekly meal
service, meet and greet members and guests, provide engaging and relevant
programs each week, and ensure arrangements are made for monthly Board
meetings. All new members are encouraged to participate in
'Welcoming" during their first month so they get to know all the
members.

IDD: Every day, 113,000 babies are born at
risk of iodine deficiency. Many children with iodine deficiency disorder
(IDD) will not be able to learn as quickly as others, or, worse still,
suffer from severe mental and physical retardation. IDD is preventable. We need just a teaspoonful of iodine
throughout our lifetime, but we need it in tiny amounts, daily.
Iodizing salt can provide the iodine we need to grow, to develop, and to
achieve our greatest dreams for ourselves and for our children. Kiwanis International is committed to
eradicating IDD throughout the world by providing iodized salt to those
areas of the world affected by IDD.
CCKC provides ongoing financial support to this critical project.
